Okay, so maybe you're going to be able to persuade yourself to leave that relaxing porch
rocker or the mesmerizing fire in the back yard long enough to see what's going on in the
area.

Finger Lakes to experience them all in one visit. You'll just have to come back!

First and foremost is Seneca Lake. The are many places
along NYS Route 414 to watch the spectacular sunsets.
Don't get so caught up in doing you miss seeing.

Want to experience Seneca Lake more closely? Try
Smith
Park. This free public park offers swimming, picnicking
and hiking. The turnoff for Smith Park is only is only 1/2
mile south of Rose Garden Cottage on Route 414. Follow
the sign.
Eight miles south of Rose Garden Cottage is Watkins Glen with public lake
access at
Clute Park.

While down in Watkins, why not Walk the Glen? Experience two miles of
waterfalls, rock formations and later relax, swim, shop and eat in the
immediate area.

The Red Newt (http://rednewt.com/web/)  Elegant and delicious food made from fresh
ingredients from local producers. Bistro menu always features vegetarian, vegan and gluten free
items. Great wine and food. Some evenings there is local entertainment. Only .2 miles from
Rose Garden Cottage up Tichener Rd.

Toni's Diner. Good, old fashioned and economical diner food. Open for breakfast and lunch.
Filling food, friendly people. Three doors from Cottage up Tichener Rd.

The Stone Cat Café (http://www.stonecatcafe.com/ ) Wonderful food featuring taste of Finger
Lakes summer through fresh, local and organic ingredients. Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes
available. Well thought out wine list. Full bar. Less than a mile from Rose Garden Cottage, south
on Rt. 414.

Farm Stands Cooking at the Cottage? Get the freshest ingredients at local farm stands along
NYS Route 414. There you'll find all the local products as they come into season (cherries,
grapes, raspberries, corn, tomatoes and peaches, to name a few).

Shopping:

Skyland Farms (http://www.skylandfarm.net/skylandfarm/) This place is a treat. You can buy
wonderfully made products from local artisans, walk a labyrinth, have lunch and pet a goat.
Highly recommended for the whole family. 1.8 miles south on NYS Rt. 414.

Graceful Arts Fiber Studio (http://www.gracefulartsfiberstudio.com/) Owned and operated by
renowned tatting expert, Karey Solomon, this shop exudes her philosophy: "needlework is love
made visible." A place to find wonderful advice and enthusiastic support for your fiber art
projects.
Seeking Spiritual Guidance?

Wisdom's Goldenrod (www.wisdomsgoldenrod.org) offers summer
workshops which are open to all. This center for philosophic studies
is respected by seekers world over. One mile north on Rt. 414.

Hector's Presbyterian Church
(http://home.htva.
net/~townofhector/Church/index.html) is a
200-year-old church kept in marvelous repair by a friendly and happy
congregation. Visitors (of any denomination) are welcome to join
worship here. After services, be sure to walk through the graveyard;
it's both beautiful and historic.

Nearby Hector Falls is often photographed, spectacular from Route
414 and breathtaking, with a 165 ft. drop, from Seneca Lake (worth the
boat ride).
